Role and Responsibilities:

  • Delivering business value by implementation and ownership of a lean Application Lifecycle Management across various tech stacks.
  • Technical guidance, mentoring and coaching the development teams.
  • Breaking down complex technical problems into solutions the business can understand.
  • Running company initiatives to investigate and demonstrate how the latest technology could be used to create a competitive advantage.
  • Creating a stable and scalable architecture to support business growth.
  • Leading teams to create proof of concepts and minimal viable products.


Your profile:

Essential

  • Leading development teams through business growth and / or transformation.
  • Implementing best practices and tools across ALM on different tech stacks.
  • Adept at implementing pioneering new technology, creating scalable solutions and resolving complex technical issues.
  • Creating a “fail fast” working environment that both challenges, educates and promotes excellent work.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Running teams with agile, lean or Kanban.

 

Desirable

  • Developing solutions for retail, logistics or e-commerce.

You are the kind of person that constantly has new innovative approaches to solving complex challenges that you just have to write down, you are both a consumer and producer of technical materials, reading and writing blogs, attending and presenting at events, and you seek out new opportunities to learn just as much as you coach others.

Within your current organisation, you are the “go to” person – owning solutions, requirements, technical strategies and even sometimes rolling up your sleeves to get into the code. You create an environment in which your teams can fail fast and you embrace success as much as you embrace failure. You’re equally happy with being a pioneer, settler and town planner and know which hat you should be wearing for each challenge.

Your job title probably says “Development Manager” or “Head of Development”, but your titles don’t bother you, your life is all about rising to the challenge. One day you could be working on a proof of concept and another day you could be leading meetings with key business stakeholders, explaining complicated tech without making people feel stupid.

You lead by example ... focusing on delivering business value, quickly, through technology. Equally comfortable designing complex technical solutions as you are picking up the most complex of technical tasks. You should be able to shape and direct technical delivery but be equally comfortable stepping in to pick up complex development tasks.

You have a breadth of understanding across business domains and technologies but have passion and mastery of many aspects across multiple tech stacks. You have a strong understanding in design patterns, practices, code engineering and ALM and lead the way forward for best practices.
